Board of Directors

Civil Society Support Program's (CSSP) Board of Directors consists of 13 members elected by the CSSP General body. Among Board members are three key positions of Chairperson Board, Finance Secretary and also Secretary. The CSSP BoD meets after every quarter within a year.

Ms. Shabnam Baloch
Chairperson, CSSP BoD

Ms. Shabnam Baloch is a development professional having more than 12 years of experience and has led large programs and teams in a range of contexts and demanding situations. She combines excellent managerial, leadership and administrative skills with a passion for human rights, gender equity and a proven record in delivering solid results. Consistently delivers high quality projects on time, within budget and in line with contractual agreements and specializes in project development and management, conducting in-depth qualitative and quantitative research, stakeholders’ engagement, monitoring & evaluation and strategic thinking. Possesses a diverse skill set and an adaptable approach.

She has been recognized as a credible leader who provides thought leadership on pressing social and development issues. She is a regular writer in English dailies, blogger and is a public speaker.

Mr. Zubair Kayani
Finance Secretary, CSSP BoD

Zubair Kayani is a senior development scientist with more than 24 years of experience in financial management, training specialist on governance and leadership, organization development, funding and resource mobilization, project management and monitoring and evaluation. Mr. Kayani served for 14 years as Head of Finance, Admin and Internal audit for SPO, served 7 years as Technical Advisor Finance, OD and Governance, Interact Worldwide (IWW) UK, served 2 years as master trainer for Leonard Cheshire Disability (LCD) a UK based INGO and 4 years as Director Finance and Compliance USAID Agribusiness Project. He is Chairperson SAK Development and Managing Director of Brilliance School System (a project of SAK Development) from 2008. Mr. Kayani is also member of board of director, Pakistan Collation for Education (PCE).

Mr. Kayani holds an MBA with a specialization in Finance and HRD from University Institute of Management Sciences, Arid Agriculture University, and Rawalpindi. He also has a master degree in Economics from the Punjab University Lahore.

Mr. Aamir Latif Siddiqui
Secretary, CSSP BoD

Mr. Aamir Latif Siddiqui is a Social Development Practitioner, he acquired MSc Public Policy from SZABIST and MA Sociology from University of Sindh. He is working in Social Development Sector since 14 years focusing Public Policy, Education, Project Management and the Community Mobilization. He has diversified working experience with NGOs and INGOs.

Major Professional Assignments

  • Worked with the Sindh Goath Sudhar Sangat [SGSS] on Girls Primary Education Development
  • Project-II (GPEDP-II) funded by Asian Development Bank.
  • Worked with Research Triangle Institute [RTI] International on Education Sector Reform Assistant [ESRA] Program funded by USAID.
  • Worked with American Institutes for Research [AIR] on ED-LINKS Project funded by USAID
  • Worked with Education Development Center [EDC] on Pre-STEP Project funded by USAID
  • Worked with WaterAid on a Flood Relief Project.
  • Worked with Education Development Center [EDC] on Teacher Education Project funded by USAID.
  • Presently working as Policy and Systems Coordinator Sindh with Creative Associates International on Pakistan Reading Project funded by USAID.

Mr. Aamir Raza Memon
Member, CSSP BoD

Aamir Raza Memon, Development Professional and Civil Society Activist, brings 12 years of Management experience in Development Sector – Particularly for the projects of Advocacy, Capacity Building, Education Management, Emergency and Livelihood. He has been associated with National and International not-for-profit organizations in Pakistan and his professional ambition is to promote and intervene for Human Rights, Secularism, Sustainable Democracy, Access to Quality Education for children and Sustainable Development of downtrodden communities. His expertise includes the management of development, implementation and quality assurance of multiple projects. He has been committed advocate of religious harmony and peaceful coexistence, political and democratic rights, human and civil rights. Mr. Memon is the strong voice against violence and religious extremism at local and national level.

Mr. Memon works as Manager "Pakistan Reading Project – USAID" with and international development organization Creative Associates International – dedicated to supporting people around the world realize the positive change they seek. He also worked with Electronic Media – anchoring regularly weekly political talk shows. He is graduated in Civil Engineering, Masters in Management and Alumnus for International Visitors Leadership Program USA.

Mr. Ghulam Rasool Baluch
Member, CSSP BoD

Ghulam Rasool Baluch has diverse experience in various administrative posts of the Government, the Pakistan Army as well as Civil Society Organizations at the leadership level. He has held several command and staff appointments. As a head of four civil society organizations, he was involved in the proposal writing, implementation, coordination and quality assurance of programmes and projects. He was involved in HR Management and capacity building. He has expertise in planning, execution, and conduct of national and international conferences and meetings during his tenure in the Government as well as in his experience in the social sector. He has good contacts in the Government at the Provincial and Federal levels as well as in the corporate sector and UN organizations/INGOs and local NGOs. He has worked in Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad and Karachi as well as the Prime Minister’s Secretariat which has provided him a vast network of contacts in the government as well as in the diplomatic corp. He been contributing articles in the newspapers and appearing in TV talk show as analyst on Social and Economic issues.

Mr. Nizamuddin Nizamani
Member, CSSP BoD

Mr. Nizamuddin is founder of Research Institute for Social Empowerment (RISE). Mr. Nizamani is a multilingual, writer, researcher and professional trainer in management, development, conflicts, democracy, leadership and soft skills. He has strong educational background, political training and voluntary contributions during and after student life. An IVLP 2011 Fellow of US State Department, he has completed MS/MPhil in Social Sciences & Economics from SZABIST Karachi. Previously he did Masters in Agriculture followed by Business administration.

Apart from Voluntary contributions, for last twenty years he has been linked with corporate and financial sector and worked in NBP as trainer and on other positions. He has been contributing write-ups on socio-political, regional and religious conflicts issues, especially on Balochistan resource distribution conflicts. He is one of the pioneers of Tando Soomro Development Organization that turned Tando Soomro village in Pakistan into a model village. He is on Board of Civil Society Support Program and Advisory Committee of Trust for Conservation & Coastal Resources. He has been honorary consultant to LEAD Pakistan (UNDP & ILO Projects), Shirkatgah, SPO etc.

Ms. Waheeda Mahesar
Member, CSSP BoD

Ms. Waheeda Mahesar is a qualified Masters in Public Administration and also Masters in Computer Science with MPhil in HRM ongoing. She has an experience of almost 13 to 14 years on different positions in development sector as well as in academia. Her prominent professional jobs include; "Research Associate" in the department of Public Administration, University of Sindh, "Faculty member" in SZABIST Larkana campus, "Principal" of two Institutes simultaneously (1) SZABIST-Job Skill Training Center Hyderabad and (2) SZABIST-Job Skill Training Center Nawabshah, "Coordinator" SZABIST-BBSYDP IT department, "Regional Coordinator" BBSYDP (Certificate in Entrepreneurship) under Women Development Department, "Project Coordinator" for "Business Management Skills" under collaboration of SMEDA & Women Development Department, "Training Coordinator & Trainer" for SZABIST – GoS Planning & Development Department, "Principal" SZABIST Intermediate College Benazirabad, "Manager" in Directorate of SZABIST ZABTech iTVE and presently as "DIRECTOR" (Directorate of SZABIST ZABTech iTVE).

Dr. Kamleshwar Lohana
Member, CSSP BoD

Dr. Kamleshwer Lohana is a strategic thinking development professional with more than 15 years of experience in the field of education, governance, development and advocacy in the non-profit and higher education sectors. He has served on key positions with several organizations such as; SZABIST, Indus Resource Centre and Save the Children, US. Dr. Lohana is Ph.D. in Development Studies from Sindh Development Studies Centre, University of Sindh. He is an AusAid Awardee, and obtained Master of Social Science degree in Asia-Pacific Governance from James Cook University, Queensland, Australia.

Dr. Lohana is adept at development project implementation with international donors and government. He is well versed in conducting project evaluations, policy analysis, and training of trainers in the field of education, disaster risk reduction and research. Currently, he is teaching at Mehran University Institute of Science and Technology and Development. Dr. Lohana had a number of academic publications on his credit covering the subjects of education, gender, governance, climate change, neo-liberalism and public policy.

Ms. Misbah Iqbal
Member, CSSP BoD

Misbah Iqbal, Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance, holds BBA (Hons.) and MBA degree from the Institute of Business Management and is currently pursuing her M.Phil in Business Management to be followed by a PhD in Finance. She has been teaching Finance and Accounting courses since 13 years, with around 3-year professional experience as an Investment Analyst (covering the Cement, Tractors, FMCG and Automobile sectors) and has been quoted on various national and international magazines for such.

Ms. Iqbal has been involved with Entrepreneurship and Management Excellent Center of the Institute of Business Management, writing proposals and preparing budgets for different projects. She has also been a co-trainer in the proposal writing, financial management and resource mobilization module. She has also worked as a co-trainer in a training conducted by ECI for capacity building in the youth of Lyari in Karachi.

Her research papers have been published in the Pakistan Business Review and presented in different national and international conferences. Her research interests are as diverse as Financial Management, Capital Markets, Financial Markets, History and Development of Sindh, South Asia, Islam, Cultures, Sufism and Mind Sciences. She is a certified NLP, a Silva Graduate and a Reiki healer.

Ms. Uzera Nishat
Member, CSSP BoD

Uzera Nishat has broad-based expertise, in Human Resource Management, Organizational Development and General Operations, gained over a span of sixteen years. She has led the HR department at Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO) and Management systems International (MSI) and currently heading People and OD function at WaterAid Pakistan. She is serving as BOD member on Human Resource Development Network (HRDN) which is network of HRD professionals and organizations for the past seven years. She is a member of working group of Human Resource Accountability and

Transparency Standards (HATS) which is an initiative to develop minimum HR and Accountability standards for the development sector organizations. She is a qualified trainer on competency based performance management from International Training Centre (ITC) of ILO Turin, Italy. She has completed modular programme spread over one year on TOT from Lahore University Of Management Sciences (LUMS). She has been engaged in partner’s capacity building in basic financial and HR systems.

Her core competencies are strategic thinking, change management, Innovative, HRMIS, process improvement, mentoring, leading and developing teams, inspiring, managing staff relations, investigating frauds, managing budgets, forming strategic alliances.

Ms. Shahzadi Hussain
Member, CSSP BoD

Shahzadi Hussain is women rights activists working since 2003. She has done Masters in Sociology and Bachelors in International relations from Sindh University Jamshoro. She contested local bodies’ elections in 2000-01 and become Taluka counselor on women’s reserves seat at TMA Tando Allahyar. During the course of time she selected Master Trainer for “women’s political participation project” W3P, initiated by ministry of women’s development for the capacity building of women counselors of Pakistan. In Women’s Political School WPS, Ms Shahzadi selected as Research Analysts (RA)/ Lead Mentor for the capacity building of local bodies’ representatives especially Nazims and Naib Nazims.

Ms Shahzadi has worked as a Programme officer Livelihoods and Gender. She developed training Manuals on livelihood issues for rural women of Sindh and Balochistan. She was also providing support and input to senior team on policy level issues of women at provincial & national level. Ms Shahzadi has been awarded with fellowship of “16 days activism and 21 days on learning” by ISIS international at Quzeen city of Philippine. She was also awarded with Fellowship of EWHA global empowerment Programme by “Asian centre for women studies” EWHA Woman University Seoul South Korea.

Mr. Ghulam Mustafa Baloch
Member, CSSP BoD

Mr. Mustafa Baloch is well known Philanthropist, NGO Expert, Social Activist.

Currently working at SPO as a Regional Head, Hyderabad Sindh. He also worked on the same position in Punjab and Baluchistan. He has Masters in sociology and women studies and certificate course on general management at Canfield university UK.

He has a proven capability in training and capacity building and has trained more than 500 gross roots organizations and more than fifty mid-level NGOs. Besides, he has developed number of training manuals, published JIVA trainer directory has declared Mr.Baloch as a first Sindhi male gender trainer.

He has participated in more than forty training and workshops in country and abroad. Mr. Baloch has been in various national and international conferences as well as media Channels as a speaker.

Engr. Abdul Qadir Roonjah
Member, CSSP BoD

Mr. Abdul Qadir Roonjah is an Engineer by profession, social activist by passion and inspired by nature. Worked as an engineer in the capacity of consultant engineer (Senior Engineer) at Makran Region in World Bank Education project in 1997-98. After that, being a social activist by passion shifted the services as a coordinator in National Leading Organization "Strengthening Participatory Organization"(SPO) and moved as a Manager capacity in 2008. Profession was again engrossed and moved to home district in education institute 'Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences (LUAWMS) Uthal Balochistan as a Director Projects & works and still working there.

Basically, Development is surrounded between the nature by engineering works and on the soft level capacity building by a social activist and it is continues process till end of the life. Finally it forwarded to the next generation.
