CSSP Launches Provincial Alliance on Just Energy Transition in Sindh

Karachi, 9 September 2024:The Civil Society Support Programme (CSSP) launched the Provincial Alliance on Just Energy Transition in Sindh, followed by a policy dialogue on renewable energy frameworks. Held at the Beach Luxury Hotel, the event brought together community representatives, academia, government officials, and stakeholders from civil society, the private sector, and international organizations to address Sindh’s energy challenges and explore sustainable solutions.
Provincial Alliance on Just Energy Transition will serve as a key platform for coordination, policy advocacy, networking, research, and capacity building to promote a fair and equitable energy transition in the province. A 10-member working committee was formed to lead this alliance, focusing on developing operational protocols and driving collaboration among key sectors.
The policy dialogue addressed gaps in Sindh’s renewable energy policies, with participants calling for urgent updates to the provincial regulatory framework, enhanced corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices, and stronger community engagement in energy projects. Discussions also highlighted the need for research and innovation in renewable energy and proposed strategies for ensuring an inclusive energy transition.
